ROLE PURPOSE:
As a Tool Design Expert at Viant, you will play a crucial role in new product development, continuous improvement, and change management of manufacturing equipment. You'll design, test, and implement new process flows, write specifications, and manage projects related to tooling, fixtures, and gages. Your expertise will help drive innovation and efficiency across our manufacturing processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure compliance with FDA regulations by following Viant's Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
Sign off on Specification Change Orders as a representative of the Engineering Department
Design and prototype fixtures, tools, and methods to meet productivity and quality standards
Recommend new tools and methodologies, including cost estimates for design or process changes
Evaluate and improve existing machinery and processes for performance, ergonomics, and safety
Develop and update technical documentation for manufacturing processes and equipment
Conduct R&D testing and validation to ensure quality and compliance
Verify engineering design conformance and safety, and prepare detailed reports
Collaborate with vendors on specifications, procurement, and product evaluations
Perform additional tasks as needed
REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:
B.S. in Engineering or 5+ years in an engineering support role
3-7 years of experience in an engineering role, preferably in Medical, Aerospace, Pharma, or Military Manufacturing
Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI)
Intermediate knowledge of ISO 13485, OSHA/Safety, PFMEA, Minitab, Oracle (or equivalents)
Subject Matter Expert in Tool/Fixture Design
Proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Pro Engineer, and Microsoft Office
Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and process improvement skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
SPC (Statistical Process Control) knowledge preferred

We offer market competitive compensation. Potential salary range for this role is $90K-$125K. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
