We are looking for a Material Controller to join our Tool Room team. The Material Controller is responsible for the efficient and effective management of tools and equipment within the tool room, supporting the overall productivity and safety of the yard.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Inventory Management:
Maintain an accurate inventory of all tools, equipment, and supplies in the tool room.
Track stock levels and reorder supplies as needed to ensure availability.
Tool Distribution:
Issue tools and equipment to employees based on their needs and the requirements of their jobs.
Record and document the distribution and return of tools.
Inspection and Maintenance:
Inspect tools for damage or defects before issuance and upon return.
Coordinate with maintenance or repair personnel to ensure tools are in good working condition.
Recordkeeping:
Keep detailed records of tool transactions, including issuance, returns, and repairs.
Generate reports on tool usage, loss, or damage.
Organization:
Organize the tool room to ensure efficient access to tools and equipment.
Implement a system for labeling and categorizing tools to facilitate easy retrieval.
Safety Compliance:
Ensure that all tools meet safety standards and are in compliance with relevant regulations.
Provide guidance to employees on the proper use and handling of tools.
Customer Service:
Assist employees in locating and selecting the appropriate tools for their tasks.
Address and resolve issues related to tool availability or condition.
Training and Orientation:
Provide training to new employees on the procedures for tool checkout and return.
Communicate any changes in tool room policies or procedures to relevant personnel.
Security:
Implement security measures to prevent theft or unauthorized access to the tool room.
Monitor and control access to the tool room.
Communication:
Maintain effective communication with various departments to understand their tool needs.
Collaborate with purchasing or procurement departments to ensure timely replenishment of tools and supplies.
Problem Resolution:
Address and resolve issues related to lost or damaged tools.
Investigate discrepancies in tool records and take appropriate corrective actions.
Compliance with Policies:
Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures related to tool management.
Stay informed about industry best practices and recommend improvements to the tool management process.Requirements:

Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least two years’ related experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Lifting and Carrying:
Ability to lift and carry heavy tools and equipment up to 50 lbs,
Capability to handle bulky or awkwardly shaped items.
Standing and Walking:
Extended periods of standing and walking while managing the tool room and assisting employees.
Manual Dexterity:
Fine motor skills and manual dexterity to handle small tools and perform detailed tasks, such as inspecting and maintaining tools.
Repetitive Motion:
Ability to perform repetitive tasks, such as scanning barcodes, organizing tools, and completing paperwork.
Bending, Climbing and Stooping:
Flexibility and physical agility to bend, climb, and stoop, and reach low or high shelves for tool retrieval and organization.
Vision:
Good eyesight to inspect tools for damage or defects and to read labels and documentation.
Fine and Gross Motor Skills:
Coordination and control of both fine and gross motor skills are essential for tasks like handling delicate tools and moving heavier equipment.
Physical Stamina:
Adequate physical stamina to handle the demands of a dynamic tool room environment, including fast-paced periods of tool issuance and return. Ability to work in tool room/warehouse without climate control.
