Optical Technician III

Job Summary:
The Optical Technician III will play a key role in the production of precision optics, leading the execution of manufacturing processes and providing technical expertise to ensure product quality and efficiency. This position requires a high level of proficiency in optical fabrication techniques, as well as strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:
Lead the setup and operation of advanced equipment for optical fabrication and testing, including CNC machines, automated polishing systems, and advanced metrology tools.
Have a thorough understanding of and proficiency in advanced polishing and testing methods along with general optical manufacturing processes.
Have a mastery of advanced optical fabrication techniques.
Lead maintenance and cleaning activities on equipment and promote cleanliness and organization throughout the department.
Ability to interpret testing data and adjust or troubleshoot the process to achieve difficult precision surface requirements.
Develop tooling and aid in process development for the manufacture of difficult or complex optics.
Lead projects related to process improvements to optimize manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
Aid manufacturing managers in prioritizing work and creating weekly plans for their team.
Provide technical guidance and training to technicians and support personnel.
Ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements throughout the manufacturing process.
Participate in the development and execution of continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge in precision optics manufacturing.
Required Skills:
Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
Understanding of optical principles and terminology required.
Confidence in the use of optical metrology equipment and software.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve complex technical problems.
Excellent communication and project management skills.Qualifications (Education and Experience):
High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant technical training required.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in precision optics manufacturing.
Understanding of advanced optical principles and terminology required.
Proficiency in the use of advanced optical metrology equipment and software.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and practices is a plus.Physical Requirements:
The ability to manually lift and handle components in the 15 to 50 lb. range on a frequent basis.
Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to handle delicate optical components and perform precise assembly tasks.
Must have adequate vision or corrected vision to inspect optical components using microscopes and other visual inspection tools.
Must demonstrate strong fine motor skills to perform intricate tasks such as polishing optics, mounting lenses, and adjusting optical instruments.Work Location:
