Job Description

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible for ensuring the organization receives all necessary payments from debtors.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Monitor the firm’s accounts receivable and identify overdue accounts.

• Contact customers with overdue accounts and attempt to either collect the overdue amount or negotiate a payment plan to collect it in installments.

• Use credit bureau data, post office information, internet searches and other tools to try to locate customers who have moved or changed phone numbers.

• Maintain records of contacts and attempted contacts with delinquent account customers as well as records of any payments collected from the customer.

• Resolve customer issues and complaints concerning billing.

• Prepare liens for balances meeting the lien requirements; release liens once requirements have been met

• Generating reports and statements for internal use.

• Engaging in ongoing educational opportunities to update job knowledge.

• Assist Management as needed which may involve cross training in other departmental job descriptions to provide full coverage if needed.

• Other duties assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or GED

• Bachelor’s degree in business or accounting preferred

• 1 – 3 years in an accounting position

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

• Understanding of administrative and clerical procedures and systems.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk

• Must be able to lift 20 pounds at a time (more with assistance)
