Head of Engineering (711225)

1. Manage and oversee the engineering department and its teams, including budget, hiring, onboarding, and training engineers and project managers. 30%

2. Lead and organize project teams using software delivery management tools including JIRA, Shortcut, and GitHub to help drive product development and delivery. 7%

3. Engineer the framework of applications that improve our platform product and integrate with client systems, and conduct working sessions with BI vendors to evaluate products based on different criteria including scalability, deployment strategy, multi-tenancy support, and capabilities. 8%

4. Manage and provide technical guidance and hands-on technical management and support to the engineering and product development teams including system design and code review. 10%

5. Directly assist the CEO in decision-making for the broader engineering organization and collaborate with Unit 21’s executive management, product team, customers, and partners to define a long-term product roadmap. 5%

6. Act as the chief architect on all major technical decisions for the engineering teams upstream and downstream of the platform and manage the design and building of front/backend data architecture and features using JavaScript, React, and Redux. 5%

7. Apply engineering guidelines to ensure quality and timely delivery of features for the Company’s web-based platform across both back-end and front-end systems in programming languages including HTML, CSS, PostgreSQL & Frameworks including SQLAlchemy. 8%

8. Maintain and troubleshoot the software deployment system using GitHub Actions, AWS Codedeploy, AWS ECS, AWS ECR, and AWS EC2. 3%

9. Ensure compliance with security requirements and maintain a forward-thinking security posture of the technical architecture. 3%

10. Monitor the reliability and performance of all software systems and test our front-end and back-end platform features built by the engineering team using JavaScript and React. 5%

11. Coordinate with the engineering team on new technology integrations and write APIs using Python, Django, MySQL, and Redis. 4%

12. Develop technology and product strategies that will increase revenue by performing return on investment analysis and how to serve our clients best and establish and maintain cross functional operating processes and the tools to support them. 7%

13. Define and manage the implementation of the core product components using state-of-the-art technologies including Redux, Flask, CircleCI, and Terraform. 5%

The experience and education requirements are:

Requires five (5) years’ post-degree progressive experience in the job offered or related.

Experience must include:

a) Building front/back-end features using JavaScript, React, and Redux.

b) Compliance with security requirements.

c) writing APIs using Python, Django, MySQL, and Redis.

d) Maintaining and troubleshooting the software deployment system using GitHub Actions, AWS Codedeploy, AWS ECS, AWS ECR, and AWS EC2.

e) Use of Flask, CircleCI, and Terraform.

f) Testing front-end platform features.

g) Use of programming languages including HTML, CSS, PostgreSQL & Frameworks including SQLAlchemy.

Requires a Bachelor’s (or foreign educ. equiv.) Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
