Responsibilities:
Provide interpretation services for students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing in one-on-one and classroom settings.
Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure effective communication and support for student needs.
Participate in team meetings and contribute to individualized education plans (IEPs) as required.
Maintain a professional standard of practice and stay updated on best practices in interpretation.
Perform light paraeducator duties as necessary to support students' overall development.
Qualifications:
Graduation from high school supplemented by training in sign language interpreting.
Considerable experience as an interpreter, preferably in educational environments.
Eligibility to obtain a Virginia Quality Assurance Screening Level III or its equivalent upon hire; VQAS Level II certified interpreters have two years to achieve Level III.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations.
Knowledge of educational practices and IEP processes is a plus.
