Position: Kubernetes Platform Engineer

Location: Atlanta, GA (5 days onsite per week)

Type: Full-Time

Compensation: 130-140k + 20% bonus

We are seeking a full-time Engineer to join a team responsible for our OpenShift container platform. The Engineer will drive enablement and adoption to migrate high performant and critical applications into a microservices model utilizing container technologies by working closely with our development and engineering teams. This individual works as part of a results-oriented, service-delivery team and assists developers, configuration analysts, release engineers, developers, and operations teams. Additionally, the Engineer performs root cause analysis of problems, selects and implements automation tools, and actively participates in deeply technical discourse.

Responsibilities

Design, build, support, and maintain Kubernetes and OpenShift platform infrastructure

Assist in the design, planning and implementation of container infrastructure solutions

Capacity planning, tuning, policy and cost management

Provide technical analysis, resolve problems, propose, and implement solutions

Provide support to, and coordinate with developers, operations staff, release engineers, and end-users

Educate and mentor platform consumers, team members and operations staff

Participate in a weekly on-call rotation for after-hours support

Respond to and assist in production operations in a 24/7 environment

Knowledge and Experience

Degree in engineering discipline or equivalent experience in Platform Engineering.

4+ years of experience with Kubernetes or OpenShift in a Production environment

Understanding of major Kubernetes components and familiarity with industry standard implementations of CNI, CSI and ingresses.

Horizontal and vertical scaling for performance and high availability

Experience with platform and application observability (tracing, logging metrics)

Top-tier analytics and problem solving

Ability to work in a service-oriented team environment

Project Management, organization, and time management

Customer focused, and dedicated to the best possible user experience

Communicate effectively with both technical and business resources

Desired

Experience with self-managed Kubernetes and/or OpenShift

Experience with OpenShift deployments on-prem and in commercial clouds

Experience with Kubernetes policy engines, e.g. Kyverno

Experience with performant implementations of service meshes

2+ years of experience with Docker and/or Podman

Build automation and configuration management

Software development experience (Golang, Python)

Advanced scripting experience (Python, Bash, Powershell)

Experience with Amazon EKS, ROSA or ARO.

Experience with Ansible

Experience with deployment of Kubernetes / OpenShift onto on prem infrastructure and/or AWS EC2 instances
