What You'll Do As A Program Administrator 2 with the Federal Traffic Safety Grant Program:
Under direction of the Program Administrator 3 for the Ohio Traffic Safety Office (OTSO), provide program direction by relieving supervisor of a variety of difficult/complex administrative duties & formulate & implement policy for the Federal Traffic Safety Grant Program:
Analyze traffic crash data to identify geographic & demographic trends;
Research & propose annual problem identification process required by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to receive annual federal highway safety funds;
Analyze crash data & related costs to assist in establishing funding priorities & agencies eligible for grant awards;
Interpret federal initiatives & provide technical advice to aid management staff in decisions regarding development of annual action plan;
Review proposed safety plans &/or proposals & make recommendations for funding; Provide assistance to other state & local entities to help in the problem identification process;
Provide technical assistance to supervisor, co-workers, & grantees concerning traffic safety issues & monitor proposed state legislation which may impact OTSO programs & initiatives;
Prepare required federal grant applications, reports &/or technical evaluations for submission by established deadlines (e.g., annual Highway Safety Plan & Annual Evaluation Reports);
Establish priorities & supervise subordinate personnel (e.g., provide developmental opportunities, coach staff to foster development, evaluate performance, approve section staffing levels, recommend discipline);
Formulates & implements program policy & operational procedures (e.g., research, develop, & implement new policies, procedures & best practices; communicate policy updates to all stakeholders; provide technical advice to aid director in decision making);
Option 1
4 yrs. trg. or 4 yrs. exp. in business administration management science or public administration.
Option 2
-Or completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, management science or public administration;
AND 2 yrs. trg. or 2 yrs. exp. in supervisory, administrative &/or managerial position.
Option 3
-Or completion of undergraduate core program in academic field commensurate with program area to be assigned per approved Position Description on file - Federal Traffic Safety Grant Program;
AND 2 yrs. trg. or 2 yrs. exp. in supervisory, administrative &/or managerial position or staff position involving planning, research &/or policy/procedure development.
