Job Description

Huntington University has an opening for a part time Greenhouse Manager. This position involves managing Huntington University’s greenhouse facilities and the care of the plants therein, as well as training and supervising student greenhouse assistants. Additional responsibilities include purchasing and maintaining the greenhouse biological, supply, and equipment inventories, and assisting faculty who use the greenhouse and its plants for classroom laboratory sessions and research. QUALIFICATIONS

Must have a strong personal faith in Jesus Christ, a desire to serve others and a commitment to being a faithful steward of university resources

Must be committed to the mission of Huntington University as a comprehensive Christian College dedicated to educating men and women to impact our world for Christ

Demonstrated understanding of Christian higher education, preferred

A Bachelor’s degree in biology, agricultural science, or a related field

Knowledge of plant biology and demonstrated skill in propagating and cultivating plants, pest management, watering, fertilizing, etc.

An understanding of greenhouse operations and experience operating and monitoring climate control systems is a bonus.

Ability and desire to train and work closely with undergraduate students

Good problem solving and organizational skills, attention to detail

Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working in teams

Demonstrated administrative and supervisory skills

Proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office products

Willing and able to obtain a Pesticide Applicator License, if necessary

Work Schedule: This is a part-time, 28 hours per week, 12-month per year non-exempt position.
