Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Operator/Programmer to join our fabrication team specializing in the production of NEMA-type electrical enclosures. The ideal candidate will be experienced in programming and operating CNC equipment such as punch presses and fiber lasers, as well as operating shears and press brakes. A solid understanding of sheet metal fabrication, including material allowances and tolerances, is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Program and operate CNC punch presses, fiber laser machines, and related equipment to cut, form, and shape sheet metal components for NEMA enclosures.
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
Set up and operate shears and press brakes for precision forming.
Determine appropriate tooling and setups for various metal thicknesses and geometries.
Inspect finished parts for accuracy, quality, and conformance to specifications using measuring tools and gauges.
Understand and apply proper sheet metal tolerances and allowances, including bend deductions and K-factors.
Maintain and update CNC programs using industry-standard software (such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or CNC-specific CAM software).
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on CNC equipment.
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve processes and ensure efficient workflow.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment and adhere to company safety policies.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training in CNC machining or sheet metal fabrication preferred.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience programming and operating CNC punch and laser machines in a sheet metal environment.
Strong knowledge of NEMA enclosure standards and fabrication processes.
Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and schematics.
Familiarity with CNC programming languages and CAM software.
Understanding of sheet metal forming techniques and industry-standard tolerances.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
