Job Overview

Southern IT LLC is seeking a skilled IT Field Service Technician to join our team as a 1099 contractor. This role involves providing on-site technical support to clients in San Antonio, with occasional travel to Austin as needed. The ideal candidate will be proficient in desktop support and cabling, delivering high-quality service to ensure client satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

Provide desktop support, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues, installing updates, and configuring systems.

Perform cabling tasks, such as installing, terminating, and testing network and data cables to ensure reliable connectivity.

Diagnose and resolve technical issues in a timely manner, escalating complex problems when necessary.

Travel to client sites in San Antonio and Austin to deliver on-site support as required.

Maintain accurate documentation of service activities, including time logs and service reports.

Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and provide clear updates on service progress.

Adhere to safety protocols and company standards during all fieldwork.

Requirements

YOU MUST LIVE IN SAN ANTONIO TX, or AUSTIN TX, and in cities in between. NO APPLICATIONS OUTSIDE OF AREAS MENTIONED WILL BE CONSIDERED

Proven experience in desktop support, including troubleshooting PCs, peripherals, and software applications.

Hands-on expertise in cabling, including installation, termination, and testing of network and data cables.

Ability to work independently as a 1099 contractor, managing time and tasks efficiently.

Must be located in San Antonio and willing to travel to Austin as needed.

Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Ability to lift and carry equipment (up to 50 lbs) and work in various physical environments.

Benefits

This is a 1099 contractor position; compensation will be based on a per-job or hourly rate, to be discussed during the interview process.
