This position is part of the North American Robotics R&D Team. A small cross functional engineering team focused on adapting the future of lawn care to North America. We engage in a range of tasks surrounding NPD and product improvement projects. Our team interfaces closely with the other robotics business disciplines as well as our engineering counter parts in Sweden.
The primary functions of this role are to direct tests on robotic lawn mowers and accessories, design and specify test procedures and equipment, coordinate execution of tests with Test Technicians, and interpret results, and provide recommendations to design engineering.
What You Need to Know:
Actively participate in the cross-functional product development team providing input to FMEAs and test plans, and report test status and results to the team.
Ensure test plans (DVP&R) provide adequate confidence that the design tested will be reliable, safe, and meet the customer's needs.
Collaborate closely with international design and test engineering teams
Design, build, and specify test equipment to support design development projects.
Train and lead Test Technicians in test methods and use of equipment to complete product validation testing.
Review and analyze test results to ensure accuracy
Calculate product and part reliability to ensure targets are achieved
Consolidate test results into a test report and communicate to cross-functional team
Assist in specifying, locating, and acquiring equipment for testing.
Develop processes and/or perform product quality audits
Develop benchmarking plans for competitor equipment
Actively participate in and support field testing of robotic mowers
Operate with a high degree of independence What We Are Looking For:
Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics or other related engineering discipline
3-6 years of related experience
Strong data analysis skills and proficiency in relevant tools (Excel, Matlab, etc...)
Experience with data acquisition software (Somat, Edaq, LabView, or similar).
Experience with electrical measuring equipment (Multimeter, Oscilloscope, etc...)
Experience working with and troubleshooting electrical circuits
Prior experience as a reliability engineer and/or test engineer, including reviewing and reporting test results preferred
Experience with the following preferred:
Regulatory agency test methods and requirements (UL, CSA, etc)
ISO, ANSI, and UL requirements related to test methods and calibration of measuring devices.
Battery or electrical system testing
Electronics prototyping hardware (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or Similar)
Coding experience (Python or C) a plus
Experience estimating testing budgets and schedules
Demonstrated knowledge of test equipment and reliability engineering methodology
Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adaptive to internal processes and change, delays or unexpected events
Proficiency in MS Office software applications
Ability to travel to domestic locations as required
Demonstrated knowledge of FMEA principals and DVP&R methodology preferred
