E&I/Controls Designer

Position Overview

The Designer II develops design sketches and finished drawings of electrical and mechanical systems to accurately convey construction or fabrication requirements to clients and contractors. The main focus of this position is the timely and accurate development of project sketches, diagrams and other technical documentation for project completion.

Primary Job Functions

Project Development & Testing

Coordinates with engineers and designers for initial design and drawing requirements.

Identifies the plan and procedures essential for implementation of a system.

Researches products and materials frequently used in designing industrial control systems; prepares documentation for approval and procurement.

Manages the development of system sketches, technical schedules and final drawings.

Coordinates testing of systems to assure quality and fulfillment.

Responsible for quality review of panels and assemblies.

Secondary Job Functions:

Perform job function of CAD Technician and Design I as required.

Assists with implementations and field installations as required.

Prepares miscellaneous reporting as requested.

Analyzes environmental effects of new implementations and reports as necessary.

Support and interface with Manufacturing for proper fabrication of systems.

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years related engineering or technical design experience.

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience (Computer Design or Engineering preferred).Strong Math and CAD skills.

Experience with varied drafting/design applications.

Demonstrates a broad knowledge of instrumentation and electrical controls wiring concepts.

Demonstrates a broad understanding of manufacturing processes, construction methods and installation standards.

Demonstrates a sound knowledge of CAD software.
