Systems Administrator
Position Purpose
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Technology, to provide and meet the technology needs of the school division by overseeing all systems used for business and instructional technologies. The Systems Administrator will maintain, upgrade and manage software and hardware.
Essential Functions
Install and configure software and hardware.
Set up, manage and maintain Active Directory and Services.
Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements.
Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing the impact of issues.
Upgrade systems with new releases and models.
Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies.
Provide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades in IT infrastructure.
Lead helpdesk and Trouble Ticket support efforts, making sure all desktop applications, workstations, and related equipment problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions.
Oversee system performance.
Make recommendations for future upgrades.
Conduct routine/scheduled audits of all systems.
Evaluate new systems within the division and approve new technologies.
Additional Duties
Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the school division and schools.

Qualification Profile
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience required
3-5 years of database, network administration, or system administration experience
System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields are a plus
Working knowledge of virtualization, VMWare, or equivalent is a plus.
Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware, and networking protocols
Experience with scripting and automation tools
A proven track record of developing and implementing IT strategy and plans
Strong knowledge of implementing and effectively developing helpdesk and IT operations best practices.
12 month position
