Plant Manager

Job Description

The Plant Manager provides leadership and management across all aspects of site operations, including safety, production, maintenance, warehouse, and quality. This role is responsible for delivering on the Annual Operating Plan (AOP), managing both union and non-union teams, and driving continuous improvement to meet business goals, cost objectives, and customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead plant safety initiatives to ensure a secure work environment, environmental compliance, and strong housekeeping standards.

Oversee daily operations including production, maintenance, and warehouse functions to meet quality, schedule, and cost targets.

Ensure compliance with all regulatory and statutory obligations, including environmental and safety standards.

Drive continuous improvement through Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, and employee engagement programs to enhance operational efficiency.

Manage labor relations in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, including contract administration and grievance resolution.

Develop and manage budgets, production records, and cost analyses to support accurate financial planning and performance tracking.

Lead and develop production, warehouse, and maintenance supervisory staff through training, coaching, and performance reviews.

Coordinate equipment maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime and ensure operational continuity.

Maintain accurate inventory control of products and operating supplies to support production needs.

Develop and enforce standard operating procedures and work instructions to ensure consistent, high-quality output.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, quality, and site leadership to support plant-wide initiatives.

Actively participate in strategic planning and site leadership meetings to align plant operations with business objectives.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree.

5+ years of management experience in a manufacturing environment; chemical industry experience preferred.

Proven leadership skills with experience managing both direct and indirect teams in a unionized environment.

Strong technical knowledge and ability to drive change through contemporary manufacturing systems.

Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Demonstrated success in safety, quality, and productivity improvement initiatives.

Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills, including experience with performance metrics and P&L analysis.

Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills, with a track record of team development and accountability.Company Description
