Job Summary:
The Pediatric Physical Therapist at Apparo Academy provides evidence-based physical therapy services for children ages 6 weeks to 10 years in both the early intervention classroom and outpatient clinic settings. The therapist plays a key role in fostering each child's gross motor development, mobility, and functional independence through individualized treatment plans and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive physical therapy evaluations using standardized assessment tools.
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans aligned with each child's developmental needs and family goals.
Deliver therapy services in both educational and clinical environments.
Support integration of therapy goals into classroom routines through collaboration with teachers and other therapists.
Monitor and document progress, adjusting interventions as needed to ensure developmental gains.
Educate and communicate regularly with families, providing home exercise programs and guidance.
Maintain timely and accurate documentation in compliance with Medicaid, private insurance, and organizational standards.
Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, IEP/IFSP development, and ongoing progress reviews.
Maintain productivity targets and complete billing in a timely manner.
Mentor interns as assigned.
Uphold the safety and well-being of all students during therapy sessions and transitions.
Qualifications:
Education: Doctorate or Master's Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program
Licensure: Georgia state license in good standing (or eligibility to obtain)
Certifications: CPR/BLS certified
Experience: Pediatric experience preferred, especially in early intervention or school-based settings
Skills:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of developmental milestones and pediatric diagnoses
Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
Flexibility and problem-solving in dynamic classroom and clinic environments
Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR)
Working Conditions:
Split between indoor therapy rooms, classrooms, and occasional outdoor play areas
Involves physical activity, lifting, and positioning of children and adaptive equipment
May require kneeling, squatting, and prolonged standing
