Morgan Hunter is seeking a skilled and proactive System Administrator to manage and maintain a valued client's IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of information systems and IT infrastructure. You will troubleshoot system issues, implement system enhancements, and work closely with other IT professionals to support critical business applications. This role is direct-hire.
Key Responsibilities:
Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot servers, networks, and related infrastructure.
Administer Microsoft Windows Server and/or Linux systems, including user access, file systems, and security policies.
Monitor system performance and ensure high availability and acceptable levels of performance.
Maintain backup systems and perform disaster recovery procedures.
Manage Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and other core services.
Apply OS patches, updates, and configuration changes as needed.
Maintain and support virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.).
Collaborate with other IT staff and vendors for support and project implementation.
Maintain system documentation and network diagrams.
Ensure compliance with internal and external security requirements.
Required Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Windows Server and/or Linux system administration.
Strong knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware or Microsoft Hyper-V.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud).
Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs, LAN/WAN).
Hands-on experience with backup and recovery tools (e.G., Veeam, Acronis).
Scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Bash, or Python preferred).
Experience with monitoring tools (e.G., Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds).
Knowledge of security best practices and endpoint protection systems.
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelorâ s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
3â 5+ years of experience as a System Administrator or in a similar role.
Relevant certifications preferred
Proven experience managing complex IT systems in a medium to large-scale environment.
