Job Summary: ODG is seeking a strategic Assistant Controller to support the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) and lead the Accounting function. This high-impact and visiblerole offers significant autonomy to shape department processes and vision following a recent software implementation. They will have direct exposure to the CAO, CFO, and business unit leaders. A strong cultural fit with a people first mentality and relationship-building skills are just as important as technical expertise.

Ideal candidates will have:

15 years of progressive Accounting experience

CPA designation

Background in public accounting/audit

Experience overseeing multiple accounting functions and managing teams

Construction industry experience (preferred)

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead the Accounting department and oversee daily operations across core functions: general ledger, payroll, billing, collections, AP, and purchasing.

Maintain and update accounting policies and procedures in alignment with current U.S. GAAP and company objectives. Ensure process documentation for all functions is updated and remains current.

Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual closes, coordinating with Finance and operational teams.

Develop and manage a high-performing accounting team, mentoring managers and supporting their development.

Work with the Chief Accounting Officer to support external audit and tax processes, ensuring readiness, responsiveness, and minimal disruption to business operations.

Collaborate with the Finance team to understand the downstream impact of accounting decisions and provide input into forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning.

Evaluate and implement process improvements, systems enhancements, and internal controls.

Serve as a key resource for the CAO and act as a liaison with the CFO on matters related to financial integrity and reporting.

Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive or proprietary management, business, and employee information and take reasonable efforts to protect this information from unauthorized disclosure.

Oversee preparation of all government contract paperwork for Davis Bacon projects on a weekly basis.

Work with Finance to complete, organize, retain, and track annual Budgets and Forecasts.

Monitor cash and cash position for the enterprise

Collection of data and creation of WIP statements and reports

Other duties as assigned from time-to-time by the CAO, CFO, CEO, or other Executive

Minimum Qualifications:

12-15+ years of progressive Accounting experience, with a majority of that time spent working with/in private companies (family-owned or PE-backed); experience in third party (private company) auditing preferred.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or another business-related field with extensive experience working in Accounting; CPA strongly preferred.

Experience managing managers and leading teams across multiple accounting functions.

Proven track record of leading or significantly contributing to close processes, audits, and accounting operations.

Extensive experience with high growth companies realizing $250m+ in annual revenue preferred.

Prefer experience in the construction industry.

Physical Requirements:

Able to work on a computer for extended periods of time.

Able to travel occasionally for meetings.

Able to see, talk and hear in person, via phone and/or through online/video.
