General Laborer/ Utility Worker

Job Description

This is a morning shift position.

The purpose of this position is to perform varied duties on the Company's distribution system and other facilities.

Will be doing a variety of work ( repair and maintenance, meter reading, construction, etc) on the water distribution system and other water utility facilities.

Duties include:

Installing of new main/service lines

Using assigned tools and construction equipment

Lifting of heavy objects ie cast iron pipes, fittings, and chemical containers

Replacing meters and meter box lids as required

Taking corrective action of meter boxes that become misaligned

Requirements:

Must be at least 18 years of age

Must have High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Must have a valid Motor Vehicle driver's license

Must be able to read, write legibly, and perform mathematical calculations

Must be computer literate and capable of operating various portable, handheld and network computers and devices

Must be able to operate portable data loggers and portable computer for meter reading functions

Must be able to report any abnormality in the system such as illegal service connections, leak, maintenance work, faulty meters, or abnormal customer consumption

Must be capable of cleaning water and or mud out of meter boxes to read meter

Must be able to lift, carry, and pull objects weighing up to 100 lbs unassisted.

Must be able to walk, bend, kneel, crawl, stoop, reach, climb stairs or ladders

Must be capable of operating a two-way radio, telephone, computer, word processor, typewrite, copier, fax, adding machine, calculator, or other office machines.Company Description
