Full-time Associate Attorney - Insurance Defense and Civil Litigation Position Overview
We are looking for a full-time Associate Attorney with 2-5 years of experience in insurance defense or civil litigation. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in handling a diverse caseload, working closely with partners and clients, and contributing to the firm's continued success. Key Responsibilities
Handle all aspects of litigation from case inception through trial and appeal
Conduct legal research and analysis on complex issues
Draft and review pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents
Prepare and respond to discovery requests
Attend court hearings, depositions, and mediations
Negotiate settlements and plea agreements
Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and insurance adjusters
Manage and prioritize multiple cases and deadlines
Develop case strategies and litigation plans
Conduct witness interviews and prepare witnesses for testimony
Analyze and evaluate insurance policies and coverage issues
Stay current on relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends
Participate in business development activities and client relationship management
Mentor and provide guidance to junior attorneys and support staff
Contribute to the firm's knowledge management and best practices initiativesQualificationsRequired:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
Active membership in good standing with the state bar
2-5 years of experience in insurance defense and civil litigation
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong organizational and time management skills
Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workPreferred:
Experience in multiple areas of insurance defense (e.g., personal injury, property damage, professional liability)
Familiarity with state and federal court procedures
Experience with e-discovery platforms and case management software
Strong client service orientation
