Job Purpose:
We are looking for an Embedded Software & Controls Engineer to contribute to the full lifecycle of software and hardware development for engine-based products. This role will be responsible for interpreting requirements, designing embedded software, supporting electronic hardware integration, and validating systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with control strategies, software modeling, and technical documentation within automotive or mechanical systems environments.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
Participate in the software development cycle on a recurring 3-month schedule, covering requirements analysis, design, implementation, and validation.
Translate control strategy concepts and model inputs into detailed software requirement documents and contribute to design specifications.
Assist in drafting and executing validation protocols to ensure robust and accurate embedded system performance.
Collaborate closely with system engineers to define and document electronic hardware requirements on a 6–12-month planning basis.
Troubleshoot embedded software issues and contribute to root cause analysis and resolution.
Required Skills & Experience:
Proficient in MATLAB, with the ability to interpret and explain model behavior and system functionality.
Strong experience in control systems software and embedded programming.
Skilled in developing and managing MATLAB-based models for control algorithms.
Demonstrated ability to produce clear and precise technical documentation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft 365 tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
Strong organization and collaboration capabilities.
Desired Qualifications:
Knowledge of internal combustion engine design and its integration with embedded systems.
Familiarity with automotive industry standards and validation processes.
Education & Experience:
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field is required.
2–4 years of professional experience in embedded software development or software controls is required.
A Master’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience will also be considered.
Associate or 2-year degrees are not accepted for this role.
