Evaluates program and project requirements, develops complex equipment and tooling concepts and designs solutions for the Production System. Compiles and analyzes technical data to determine the effects on product engineering design and rate estimates, identifies robotics, automation or technology recommendations and system integration for equipment and tooling. Ensures compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements. Validates contractual performance milestones, maintains configuration control, conducts reviews, prepares plans for productions readiness, preventative maintenance, and spares. Conducts training for Production and Maintenance personnel. Develops and implements work-arounds and maintains configuration of hardware, software and documentation. Performs studies and make recommendation for disposition of assets.

Job Description

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is looking for Equipment Engineers to join our Production Engineering organization in Auburn, WA and Fredrickson, WA. This Asset Integration/Systems focused position will support exciting new endeavors in the Fabrication Division.

A successful candidate in this role will have passion, creativity, and an insatiable desire for process improvement and efficiency. They will also have a strong desire to be out on the production floor, interacting with mechanics, safety, and equipment services, and directly supporting the production system. In locations where SPEEA representation applies, this job family will be covered by the terms of the collective bargaining agreement. Applicable and appropriate educational/certification credentials from an accredited institution and/or equivalent experience is required.

Primary Responsibilities:

This is an equipment development, implementation, and improvement role. This role involves ensuring the reliability, safety, and integrity of critical assets and infrastructure. This includes developing and implementing asset reliability systems, conducting inspections and risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with regulations and standards. The role involves managing asset lifecycle, asset documentation, and preventative maintenance plans. Additionally, the role requires project management, testing, and commissioning of complex automated system acquisition and modification projects:

Evaluates business unit and project requirements, develops complex equipment concepts and designs solutions for the Production System

Coordinates with suppliers, cross-functional teams, and procurement agents to manage tight schedules and budgets for equipment projects

Generates complex equipment specifications & corresponding verification/validation test protocols for production system assets

Addresses reliability and obsolescence issues by analyzing maintenance & spare parts usage records to optimize performance and reduce costs

Optimizes high precision milling, forming, and other metal processing equipment for safety, ergonomics, quality, flow, reliability, or maintainability

Ensures compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors, and regulatory requirements

Validates contractual performance milestones, maintains configuration control, conducts reviews, prepares plans for productions readiness, preventative maintenance, and spares
