Tactical SATCOM Engineer (TESA)

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
Comtech Systems, Inc (CSI) is looking for Tactical SATCOM Engineer (TESA) candidates who will provide day-to-day operation and maintenance support for various SATCOM equipment fielded. This includes on the spot training. Candidates will be expected to work with a spirit of cooperation and must exhibit a tenacious work ethic while possessing the drive and critical thinking to excel in potentially tumultuous conditions.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
All candidates will perform the following duties:
Provide network support for a complex enterprise WAN and LAN network.
Provide network support for a complex RF system.
Troubleshoot and identify sources of problems and resolve issues.
Monitor and resolve service requests in accordance with published SLAs.
Assist in establishing and enforce best practice processes for network management, including configurations, monitoring, patch management and security.
Operate Satellite Modems, Redundancy Switch, associated cables, and interconnects; Up Converters, Redundancy Switch; Down Converters, High Power Amplifiers (HPAs), Low Noise Amplifiers (LNAs), Low Noise Block (LNB); Waveguide (rigid, flex, and elliptical) joints and connections; Intermediate Frequency (IF) cable and connections; Antenna, Antenna motors, Solid State Power Amplifiers (SSPA), Antenna Control Unit (ACU), and associated cabling and interconnects; Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Units; Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS); Generator (if applicable).
Maintain and troubleshoot using any Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) required over and above the Built-In-Test (BIT) capability of the supported equipment.
Manage and maintain telecommunication installation supplies.
Maintain daily on-hand inventories.
Operate Satellite Radios and maintain those systems.
Operate FDMA, TDMA modems
Operate and program an iDirect, Linkway modem and or Hub.
Serve as the Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) subject matter expert, with strong SATCOM operations knowledge and basic baseband knowledge.
Formal operator training for tactical SATCOM systems.
Protocol/Network Theory Experience.
Understanding, configuration and troubleshooting ability of DMVPN Architecture.
Perform routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, RIP and RIP).
Knowledge of switching fundamentals (Virtual Local Area Network System (VLANS), VLAN Trunk Protocol (VTP), Port Security, Spanning Tree).
Familiarity with Cisco Encryption Concepts within a DMVPN Architecture.
Understanding of Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) Acceleration over Satellite concepts. SKILLS REQUIRED:
All candidates will have the following minimum skills:
Three (3) years of experience operating in a tactical environment operating/maintaining antenna controllers, SSPA, LNA/LNB, up and down converters, Fiber optic/Coax/Ethernet Cable, Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA) and Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) modems (satellite modems).
Experience and skill with commercial and military satellite acquisition procedures, IP routing and switching, Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP), Quality of Service (QoS), Voice and Data - T1/E1, Foreign Exchange Server (FXS), and commercial TDMA/FDMA modems required.
Experience with Satellite Line of Sight and Near Line of Sight transport methods.
Experience with the MRT desired.
Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally with diverse audiences, internally and externally to foster strong teamwork.
Work well independently or as a member of a team environment
Detail-oriented, with strong analytical skills. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Preferred Bachelor's degree in Engineering, OR an Associate's degree plus 7 years of recent specialized experience, OR a major certification plus seven (7) years of recent specialized experience, OR eleven (11) total years of recent specialized experience.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office.
Experience in maintaining certifications related to the requirement of the position. CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
