Title: Senior Engineer, Failure Analysis and Component Engineering

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Conduct advanced component level failure analysis (FA) using methodologies such as X-Rays, Cross Sectioning, etc.
• Provide support in qualifying and validation of electronic and electromechanical components.
• Develop and execute failure analysis methodologies and lead root cause identification initiatives.
• Drive posttest component performance analysis and documentation.
• Assist engineering teams with system level test procedures, procuring resources and equipment, implementing tests, and trouble-shooting complex issues.
• Collaborate with manufacturing partners and other engineering stakeholders to optimize product designs for reliability and manufacturability.
• Collaborate with electronic component suppliers and distributors on component failure modes identification and evaluation.
• Component quality assessment and defect analysis.
• Coordinate with external FA labs to scope appropriate evaluation methodologies and interpret the results and recommend mitigation actions.
• Assist with and implementation of design changes that will improve robustness, manufacturability, reliability, serviceability and eliminate unnecessary cost and complexity.
• Implement and execute component level qualification matrices DFR and evaluation guidelines.
• Drives analytical troubleshooting, problem-solving, and team development to solve day-to-day operational issues and reach short- and long-term performance goals.
• Develop formal failure analysis report data and findings after analysis completion.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• 5 years of engineering experience in electronic component application and validation, preferably in residential / commercial products environment
• Demonstrated experience with physics-based failure analysis of electronic components and documentation using Internal/External FA tools
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with the design and development of power electronics/power converters
• Experience with solar, energy storage, or other clean energy technologies
• Experience with Altium or similar schematic capture and PCB Layout
• Experience with various state-of-the-art analytical tools including external visual examination, cross sectioning, microscopy, radiographic examination, and bench testing.
• Demonstrated experience processing acquired data and information sets to arrive at a conclusion regarding the cause of failure.
• Experience evaluating corrective and preventative actions to address quality issues.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
• Working knowledge of electrical engineering theory and principles
• Working knowledge of Physics based component failure modes and evaluation methodologies.
• Working knowledge of electronic and electromechanical components and its applications
• Experience with creating and implementing component qualification and validation plans.
• Knowledge of Printed Circuit Board layout best practices
• Deep familiarity and experience with high-volume manufacturing of electronics products, including mixed surface mount/through-hole PCBs and electromechanical assembly.
