Role Overview:
Join Calibre’s dynamic team, responsible for executing a variety of essential tasks as a Welder (First Class), including:
Key Responsibilities:
-Interpret and work from engineering drawings and specifications to perform high-quality welding and fabrication of structural steel components including beams, mechanical connections, handrails, and support structures.
-Perform full penetration butt welds compliant with ultrasonic testing (UT) standards.
-Execute flux cored arc welding (FCAW) and manual metal arc welding (MMAW/stick welding) to meet magnetic particle testing (MT) and other non-destructive testing (NDT) requirements.
-Assemble, position, and install steel structures and mechanical components, including removal and remediation of existing installations such as old beams and chutes.
-Use hand tools, grinders, cutting torches, and welding equipment safely and effectively in accordance with technical standards.
-Collaborate within a team to ensure work is completed on schedule and in compliance with safety and quality standards.
-Support general site operations including materials handling, equipment maintenance, and safety compliance activities.
-Adhere strictly to workplace health and safety procedures, including requirements for respiratory protection and working in hazardous environments (e.g., lead stream areas).
Requirements:
- Relevant Trade Certificate in welding, metal fabrication or equivalent qualification.
-Ability to pass a comprehensive Mine Site Medical, including drug and alcohol screening.
-Current or willingness to obtain High Risk Work Licences (HRWL) – EWP, LF (Desirable: DG, RB/RI).
-Willingness to complete Mount Isa Mines mandatory training and courses as required.
-Proven experience in heavy industrial, construction, or mining environments with strong emphasis on safety, quality, and compliance.
-Familiarity with working in mining or heavy industrial environments, with a strong focus on safety and compliance.
-Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
