The Legal Division seeks a detail-oriented, self-motivated, and experienced attorney to join our team. The ideal candidate has excellent writing and research skills, can multi-task, works with a sense of urgency, and has at least 18 months of experience as a licensed attorney.

What You'll Do:
Plan, direct, and coordinate the legal support for the Department’s life and health insurance programs.
Conduct complex legal research on issues related to state and federal health insurance laws and regulations (including Ohio Revised Code Title 39, Chapter 1739, Chapter 1751, Chapter 119, and Chapter 149; Ohio Administrative Code Division 3901; the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act; the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act; and Medicare).
Provide legal advice and support to the Department’s internal clients, including the Office of Product Regulation and Actuarial Services, Consumer Services Division, Market Conduct Division, Risk Assessment Division, and other internal clients, including the Director, Deputy Director, and other members of the Executive Leadership Team.
Review and draft proposed legislation and administrative rules.
Facilitate and coordinate communications with the Ohio Attorney General’s Office on litigation and administrative hearings involving product and rate filings.
Review and analyze existing administrative rules as part of the Department’s five-year administrative rule review process.
Respond to consumer and constituent matters, including written and oral inquiries.
Admission to Ohio Bar pursuant to Section 4705.01 of Revised Code; 18 mos. exp. as licensed attorney; 6 mos. exp. in supervisory principles/techniques.
