Direct Support Professional (DSP)
The purpose of our Direct Support Professionals is to support adults with developmental disabilities. Our DSPs act as mentors and unwavering supporters. Developing a positive, thoughtful, and understanding relationship with the clients - while assisting in meeting their goals.
Duties and responsibilities
Provide support, assistance, and training to consumers in all program areas per their established program plan and in conjunction with the scheduled activities. Be knowledgeable of, and provide training directed toward achieving the chosen goals of each individual consumer. Maintain required documentation on all activities, training and consumer’s progress on a daily basis, as assigned. Work closely with case managers and supervisor to assure consumer’s goals are being met. Maintain scheduled activities at all times, with calls to the supervisor if the community schedule is change
Maintain established level of supervision, and at least visual supervision, at all times, for assigned consumers both on site and in the community. For consumers needing additional close monitoring, use the procedures and protocols established for additional safety. Any protocol for behavioral interventions and/or any Restricted Health Care plans must be followed at all times
Maintain active programming and respectful interaction with consumers at all times
When assigned a job contract on site or in the community, assure that the highest quality services are provided and that all work order requirements are fulfilled each time
Monitor consumer health and safety concerns at all times, reporting any concern immediately. Report any suspected abuse immediately to the proper authorities as required by law and OPARC policy
Maintain all required documentation including but not limited to progress notes, consumer information notices, communication books, special incident reports, and data collection and consumer attendance
Attend training provided to obtain current CPR/First Aid certification
Compile programming supplies and equipment needed for community outings daily prior to arrival of consumers. Maintain clean work area
Attend all assigned meetings and trainings
Adhere to all safety regulations
Duties may also include providing direct care services to consumers enrolled in the Alternative Senior Program Component and the Customized Endeavor Option Program (CEO)
All other duties and responsibilities assigned
Qualifications and Skills
High School diploma or equivalent (Required)
Valid CA Driver’s License with driving experience and a clean driving record
Reliable Transportation and current vehicle insurance
Able to lift up to 25 lbs. by self, up to 150 lbs. with one other person
able to push wheelchair with client up to one mile
standing, walking, sitting, pushing, bending and pulling required; squatting and repetitive motion may be necessary
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $ 18.73 per hour
Expected hours: Monday- Friday 30 hours per week
Full-time
