CEO Youth Leadership and Employment Academy Summer Intern is part of RRHA’s commitment to the growth and development of its’ families to become productive, contributing citizens to the Greater Richmond Community. The opportunities provided to the youth of RRHA communities will assist them in becoming the future leaders, businesspeople, and politician of tomorrow.

RRHA recognizes the limited opportunities for employment and leadership training that is available for young people in the City of Richmond, and even more so for residents in its’ Communities, therefore

RRHA has developed multiple leadership and employment opportunities for youth and young adults between the ages of 8 to 25.

RRHA Summer Interns must be RRHA residents.

This is a Part-Time role, working 30-hours a week. The Pay Rate is $15/HR.

Here are the Summer 2025 Leadership and Employment opportunities:

8–13-year-old Career Exploration and Community Beautification Projects

14–18-year-old Youth Office Support Specialist

14–18-year-old Youth Grounds Work Technicians

18–25-year-old Summer Internship Program

The Summer Internship Program is designed to provide an opportunity for RRHA college students to apply and develop leadership skills by supervising and training young people who are in the above youth employment programs. This group will have supervisory responsibilities for the Career Exploration and Community Beautification participants and will assist in the development of training of the youth 14-18 years old. There will be a total of 4 youth participants.Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The position duties and responsibilities listed below describe the general nature and scope of work. Other responsibilities, duties, and skills may be required and assigned, as needed.

Supervise the Career Exploration and Community Beautification program participants which includes but is not limited to:

Taking attendance daily;

Providing work assignment to participants;

Training participants on the aspects of their jobs;

Answering any questions regarding work assignments;

Encouraging and coaching participants as they perform their work; and

Resolving conflicts that may be impacting the group’s effectiveness and/or working relationship.

Develop Training for the Youth Grounds Work Technicians Program participants which includes but is not limited to:

Learning the tasks required for the Technician;

Developing the training on the Technician work tasks;

Monitoring if the training is effective and making modification to enhance the training; and

Encouraging and coaching participants as they perform their work.

Modeling professional and mature behavior for program participants.

Consult with RRHA supervision or the Program Manager if a participant (s) are experiencing difficult performing their assignments.

Build positive relationships with program participants.

Make sure that all COVID-19 and Safety Procedures are followed by program participants.

Position requires Graduation from high school with a diploma or a GED program or currently enrolled in Trade School or a College/University.Strength Requirements

Sedentary Work: Sedentary Work involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs may be defined as Sedentary when walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other Sedentary criteria are met. Work Environment
