Job Description
The International Institute of Southwest Missouri (Springfield, MO) is seeking a passionate and proactive Job Developer to support immigrant and refugee job seekers in achieving employment success and long-term career growth. This position plays a vital role in building relationships with local employers, coaching clients through the job search process, and connecting them to sustainable employment opportunities across a range of industries.
The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, recruiting or job development experience, and a commitment to workforce equity and client-centered service. This position requires regular local travel during work hours.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with employers to identify job opportunities and support full-cycle recruitment (including job postings, screening, interviewing, onboarding, and follow-up).
Build and maintain strong employer relationships through ongoing communication and in-person visits.
Match clients with employment based on skills, career goals, and wage progression opportunities.
Serve as the key point of contact between clients, employers, and internal program staff to coordinate hiring, onboarding, and wraparound support.
Support clients with access to transportation, work-related expenses, and referrals to additional employment partners or services.
Facilitate and lead employment readiness workshops and one-on-one coaching sessions.
Track all client job placements, maintain employer records, and ensure grant compliance documentation.
Coordinate with internal teams to support clients' enrollment, pre-screening, and career development goals.
Participate in outreach efforts, cold calling, report writing, and community events including CultureFest.
Maintain detailed and timely records in databases, and participate in weekly internal employment team meetings.
Required Qualifications:
2-4 years of experience in job development, human resources, workforce development, or recruiting.
Associate's degree with relevant experience required; Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Marketing, Public Administration, or related field preferred.
Strong communication, coaching, and relationship-building skills.
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to working with diverse populations.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Valid driver's license, proof of insurance, and reliable personal transportation required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications:
Multilingual ability in Swahili, French, Arabic, Dari, Pashto, Kinyarwanda, or Somali.
Familiarity with US employment law or hiring practices.
Previous experience in sales or customer service a plus.
Flexible schedule availability, including occasional evenings or weekends for community events.
