Position: Art Program Leader – Museum Operations
Department: Parks, Arts, Recreation, and Community Services – Arts and Museums
Hourly Range: $18.13 - $20.99
Classification: Temporary
Non-Exempt – Overtime Eligible
Job Summary:
Under general supervision, the Art Program Leader will perform customer service duties, processing donations and sales, docent and support tours, prepare galleries for exhibitions, package artwork, install, and transport artwork. Additionally, the Art Program Leader will assist with the museums’ upkeep and maintenance of facilities, including preparing for rental, engagement, and special events at the City of Lancaster’s Museum of Art and History, MOAH: CEDAR, Western Hotel Museum, and the Elyze Clifford Interpretive Center.
The Art Program Leader – Museum Operations supports a dynamic exhibitions and events program across multiple arts and museums facilities. Art Program Leaders work an average of 18 hours per week and must be available to work a flexible schedule that includes work nights and weekends.

Example of Duties & Responsibilities:
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Direct, greet and provide courteous and accurate information regarding exhibits, activities, and events taking place at any one of the museum’s locations to guests.
Answer incoming calls; take messages, determine the purpose of callers, forward calls to appropriate personnel via phone and email.
Process donations and conduct sale transactions, ensuring proper use of cash handling procedures.
Docent and keep galleries clean and presentable daily.
Prepare gallery walls and other spaces for installation, including patching, painting, cleaning, and making minor repairs.
Safely and knowledgeably handle a variety of artwork, framed and unframed paintings, drawings, photography, sculptures, and multi-media works.
Install artworks based on a layout designed by curators and/or artists which may involve climbing ladders and scaffolding.
Adjust the lighting for each exhibition, moving spotlights on lighting tracks, and replacing bulbs.
Prepare and install gallery signage and labels.
Load and unload artworks into receiving areas, ensuring safe and proper handling techniques are practiced, including crating and uncrating works.
Prepare artwork and objects for storage.
Set up, staff, and tear down events and rentals.
Oversee and maintain supplies, tools, and equipment inventories.
Safely fabricate objects on site with the use of hand tools and power tools.
Operate company vehicles to safely retrieve or deliver artwork.
Perform related duties as required.

Ability to organize and coordinate a variety of duties related to assigned projects.

Ability to perform clerical functions; observe safety principles and work in a safe manner.
Education and Experience:
Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for acceptable job performance
Currently enrolled in a college or university majoring in Arts or a related field is desirable
