DESCRIPTION:

A vibrant & popular San Francisco bistro boasting modern Mediterranean-fusion cuisine is seeking a dedicated and talented Sous Chef to join the team. The Sous Chef will be a key member of the culinary team, supporting the Executive Chef and CDC in overseeing kitchen operations and ensuring the highest standards of food quality and consistency. This role requires a passionate, creative, and dedicated individual with a range of experience in culinary techniques and the ability to lead and inspire a team.

Responsibilities:

Assist the Executive Chef in all kitchen operations, from menu planning to ingredient selection and recipe development.

Oversee day-to-day kitchen activities, ensuring smooth workflow and consistency in food preparation.

Maintain high standards of food quality, taste, and presentation, upholding the restaurants reputation for excellence.

Train, supervise, and motivate kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.

Ensure compliance with all food safety and sanitation regulations to maintain a clean and safe kitchen.

Monitor inventory levels and assist in sourcing ingredients, managing food costs, and minimizing waste.

Step into the role of the Executive Chef in their absence, ensuring continuity in service and quality.

Contribute to seasonal menu changes, bringing creative ideas that align with the culinary vision.

Build a culture of teamwork, respect, and continuous improvement in the kitchen.

Qualifications:

1-3 years of experience as a Sous Chef or similar role, ideally in Mediterranean or European cuisine

Strong knowledge of various cooking techniques and culinary traditions and trends.

Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire a kitchen team.

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.

Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and professional kitchen environment.

Passion for food, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellence.

Culinary degree or equivalent professional training is a plus.
