Flight Software Engineering Manager Santa Barbara, CA (Onsite)
Are you passionate about building high-reliability embedded systems for missions that truly matter? We’re partnering with a pioneering space tech company seeking an experienced Flight Software Engineering Manager to lead the development of mission-critical software for next-generation spacecraft.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll split your time between managing a team of 3–4 engineers and architecting flight software that drives real-time, autonomous space systems.
What you’ll be doing:
Technical leadership and architecture of real-time embedded systems (Rust/C++)
Team leadership including coaching, hiring, and performance management
Development of command and control software across multiple subsystems
Collaborating across hardware and systems engineering teams
Driving integration, unit/system testing, and continuous improvement
️ What you’ll bring:
5+ years of embedded software development (Rust or modern C++)
2+ years of technical leadership + people management
Strong knowledge of ARM SoCs, RTOS/Linux or bare-metal environments
Experience with autonomous, fault-tolerant, or flight-critical systems
Bonus: Python, Docker, CI/CD, SPI/UART/I2C interfaces
Location: Onsite in Santa Barbara, CA
Salary: $150,000–$180,000 DOE
