Wright Technical Services is assisting a leading integrator client in their search for a Field Service Engineer. In this role, you will contribute to the implementation of automation systems through on-site commissioning and operation of control solutions, including Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs). This position offers a mix of fieldwork and testing, requiring a solid technical background and strong problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities:
– Oversee electrical contractors during the installation of control panels and related equipment.
– Execute electrical installations under engineering guidance and established protocols.
– Energize control panels and confirm communication with connected machinery.
– Verify Input/Output (I/O) points for correct operation and resolve any discrepancies.
– Configure, commission, and troubleshoot VFDs for motor control systems.
– Address VFD-related issues, including motor faults and communication failures.
– Carry out preventative maintenance on VFDs to ensure their effectiveness.
– Support engineers with system commissioning, incorporating program uploads and VFD adjustments.
– Train maintenance staff on basic operation and troubleshooting techniques.
– Document installation and commissioning processes for future reference.
– Ensure a safe and organized work environment while establishing strong client relationships.
Requirements:
– Associate’s degree in electrical technology or a related field, or equivalent experience.
– At least two years in industrial electrical installations.
– Proven ability to read and understand electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
– Comprehensive knowledge of electrical and mechanical principles, including AC/DC power and motor control.
– Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and industrial communication protocols is an advantage.
– Strong problem-solving capabilities and the ability to work independently.
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration.
– A valid driver’s license with a domestic travel requirement of 50-75%.
