Duties/Responsibilities
• Abide by all safety rules and procedures, and actively look for and address any unsafe conditions and behaviors.
• Effectively set-up, operate and troubleshoot assigned lines producing gel packs at standard rate and meeting all quality requirements to meet the production schedule and customer delivery commitments.
• Maintain equipment in proper working order by completing required PMs, reporting equipment issues to your supervisor, mechanic/Maintenance Machine Technician, making needed repairs, and thoroughly cleaning the equipment and surrounding area of the line each shift.
• Oversee Packers and Stackers working on assigned lines to ensure packaged and palletized product meets all quality requirements.
• Ensure use of and sustained compliance with all formalized policies and procedures (i.e. SOPs, Flowcharts, One-Point-Lessons, Downtime Escalation Policy)
• Complete all required production and quality reports as well as any additionally assigned documentation.
• Effectively communicate with the Shift Supervisor and/or Production Manager to keep them informed of any issues or potential problems regarding safety, equipment, production throughput or quality, inventory and/or personnel.
• Promotes a positive work environment through setting an example with willing cooperation and mutual respect amongst teammates. Ensures effective communication with their coworkers throughout the day and during shift changes.
Required Skills/Abilities
• Ability to read, write and speak English and effectively communicate with others.
• Familiar with and experience using various hand tools.
• Mechanically inclined; prior machine operation and troubleshooting experience preferred.
• Fast learner able to grasp and apply new concepts quickly and sustain performance that meets or exceeds expectations.
• Strong attention to detail and data-driven decision-making ability.
• Strong organization and methodical problem-solving skills.
• High sense of urgency and accountability.
• Experience working with an ERP System and paperless production reporting environment a plus.
• Proven to be reliable, and willingness to be flexible by taking on assignments that may be outside job requirements and to work overtime as needed.
Education and Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum three months of experience as a Pelton Shepherd Assistant Machine Operator with demonstrated ability and performance to meet goals and objectives. Previous experience operating and troubleshooting the production of liquid-filled products via vertical form fill and seal equipment a plus.
Physical Requirements:
• Prolonged periods standing and walking.
• Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach, clean, inspect and service machinery.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to70-pounds.
