Structural Design Engineer

Basic Job Functions:

As a structural design engineer, you will specialize in designing fabricated products, systems, and/or structures to withstand various loads and/or environmental conditions. Basic job functions are as follows:

Provide general structural engineering services and guidance for internal Nucor divisions including the design/analysis of conventional steel structures, connections, truss & box girders, lifting devices, reinforcement details, and basic foundations.

Use structural engineering principles and our proprietary software to design steels joists and joist girders to ensure public safety.

Collaborate with Detailing, Shop Order, and Production teammates to ensure quality and on-time delivery of products.

Promote our products by being involved in business development activities such as direct engagement with industry professionals, delivering lunch-and-learn presentations, and being an exhibitor at trade shows.

Continuously develops self and invests in team through mentorship and engagement in professional development activities.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Minimum Qualifications:

• BS in Civil/Structural Engineering or related discipline from an ABET accredited program

• Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification or ability to acquire it within 6 months Preferred Qualifications:

PE license or desire, ability, and dedication to obtain a license
