Overview

CTG is seeking to fill a Sr Telecom/Network Specialist opening for our client in Rochester, MN.

Location: Rochester, MN

Duration: 6 months

Duties:

Work across multiple network infrastructure disciplines, including routing, switching, and wireless technologies.

Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency with basic network and network security monitoring/management tools.

Operate and maintain network security infrastructure such as network access control, network segmentation (TrustSec, ISE), VPNs, secure web browsing, internet caching, and DNS security devices to ensure data integrity and maintain network security.

Assist with and potentially lead troubleshooting and remediation of network security incidents or investigations, in collaboration with Help Desk, ITOC, and SOC teams.

Utilize software-defined networking tools and technologies, including firewalls, WAN/LAN, SASE, and Cloud networking solutions.

Leverage scripting and automation tools such as Splunk, Ansible, Python, and .Net.

Apply knowledge of standard project methodologies (Agile and/or Waterfall) and relevant tools and terminologies.

Hybrid schedule available with remote opportunities after the first 3 months. Equipment will be provided.

Skills:

Strong technical skills in telecom/network protocols and the 7-layer OSI model.

Proficient in the configuration, installation, monitoring, diagnosis, and repair of complex multi-platform and multi-protocol enterprise telecom/data network equipment.

Effective at planning, implementing, and upgrading equipment to meet user specifications.

Experienced in coordinating escalation processes with vendors and internal stakeholders during outages or service degradation.

Capable of providing technical evaluation and recommendations for monitoring tools and products.

Proven ability to manage and mentor team members on assigned projects.

Strong organizational, analytical, and time-management skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Cisco experience preferred.

CCNA certification preferred.

Experience:

In-depth experience in enterprise network environments, including equipment installation, troubleshooting, and upgrades.

Ability to work independently with accountability for project outcomes.

Demonstrated experience in customer service during critical incidents.

Previous involvement in strategic discussions for short- and long-term telecom/network direction is a plus.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline with a minimum of 2 years of professional experience;

OR Associate’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of professional experience;

OR a minimum of 6 years of professional technical experience in telecom/data networking without a degree.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
