We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Controls Engineer with experience in the water and wastewater utility sector to join our team. This role is responsible for the design, specification, and implementation of process control systems for municipal and water and wastewater treatment facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop control systems, including SCADA, PLC, and HMI programming for water/wastewater facilities.
Prepare electrical and instrumentation/control (I&C) design documents, including P&IDs, control schematics, panel layouts, loop diagrams, and wiring diagrams.
Develop control narratives, specifications, and sequence of operations for automated systems.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including process, mechanical, and electrical engineers.
Support system integration efforts, including site commissioning, troubleshooting, and startup assistance.
Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and client requirements, including NEC, ISA, and NFPA.
Collaborate with clients, contractors, and vendors to review submittals, provide technical support, and resolve field issues.
Manage and maintain accurate project documentation throughout all phases of design and implementation.
Assist in the preparation of proposals and cost estimates for controls-related scopes of work.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related field.
37 years of relevant experience in control system design, preferably in the water/wastewater industry.
Proficiency with PLC/HMI programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Schneider Electric, GE, Siemens).
Experience with SCADA systems such as Wonderware, Ignition, VTScada, or similar platforms.
Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, and control panel design tools.
Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ISA, NEC, NFPA, NEMA).
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Able to travel locally for site visits, commissioning, and startup support.
Valid Driver license with clean driving record
Background in cybersecurity and secure network architecture for SCADA systems is a plus.
