Job Summary:
To coordinate the preparation of the general district budget and budget planning; to develop complex budget to actual forecasting models; and to perform ongoing budget forecasts to ensure compliance with district, state and federal guidelines and regulations.

Perform financial analysis and modeling
Coordinate the preparation of the general district budget and budget planning, including budget limit formulas; develop complex budget to actual forecasting models and perform ongoing budget forecasts
Apply budgeting techniques and formulas to various budget lines and categories; analyze and reconcile district needs to budget; test soundness and accuracy of budget allocations
Research to determine needs versus wants; analyze spending to determine reasons for budget variations; report on expenditures versus budget on a timely basis; review budget data with schools and departments
Verify account codes according to Chart of Accounts when inputting new code string into system
Balance and upload the Adopted Budget to the financial system
Prepare detailed District and Program Budget Books
Assist assistant superintendents in funding distributions as needed
Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools
Required Qualifications:
To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.
Education:
High School degree or equivalent
Experience:
Five years budget and accounting experience required
Experience with mainframe computers and financial queries
Preferred Qualifications:
It is preferred that the applicant possess the following preferred qualifications; however, the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics or related field preferred
Experience:
Experience with public school accounting and iVisions software preferred
