Position: Assistant Principal Location: Center Elementary School Position Objective: Assist the Principal of Center Elementary School in providing leadership for the school staff: assist in planning, organizing, administering, and evaluating the entire school program.
Performance Responsibilities: * Plan with the Principal and staff the short- and long-range programs in the areas of curriculum development, guidance, testing, and scheduling.
* Assist in the selection, orientation, superision, and evaluation of staff.
* Assist the Principal by taking the major responsibility of developing the master schedule, including both teacher and student assignments.
* Administer a disciplinary policy in a manner which will help the student develop self discipline and promote respect for himself/herself and others.
* Assist in developing a program of studies which is responsive to changing philosophies, needs, and practices.
* Assist in interpreting the role of the school to student,s parent,s other schools, and the community.
* Supervise student teachers and substitutes.
* Supervise the computer grade recording system by maintaining liaison with the computer department and establishing appropriate procedures for implementing and carrying out the grade reporting system.
* Supervise and coordinate student attendance and accounting activities.
* Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of school facilities and grounds, if delegated by the Principal.
* Oversee the requisition, receipt, and distribution of supplies and equipment.
* Attend departmental and grade level meetings.
* Assume the duties of the Principal in the latter's absence.
* Render individual and group guidance to students and teachers relative to personal problems, and social and recreational activities.
* Assist with the necessary supervisory direction of clerical and auxiliary services.
* Consult and interact with Principals and Counselors regarding student issues.
* Attend and/or conduct Advisory Board meetings or other meeting with teachers to make recommendations and decisions, solve problems and keep informed of current events in the educational field.
* Perform other related duties as directed, or as responsibilities necessitate.
Evaluation: The performance of this position will be evaluated annually in writing by the Principal in accordance with the provision of the CAA contract, and will be discussed with the incumbent.
