Position Title: Coordinator of Curriculum & Attendance

Location: Central Office-County

Salary: Salary based on experience and education level per MCBOE salary schedule plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation.

Employment Term-220 Days

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Hold or qualify for West Virginia Certificate as required under State Board Policy 5202 for position

Masters Degree in Education or related field or combination of Bachelors degree and relevant experience

Successful experience as a school administrator preferred

Minimum of five (5) years of successful experience as a classroom teacher

Excellent verbal and writing skills

Knowledge and skills to provide direction and technical assistance in areas of responsibility

Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with students, staff, parents, principal and the public

Excellent interpersonal skills and organizational abilities

Knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to areas of responsibility

Ability, skills and knowledge to provide leadership in the areas of curriculum planning, development and implementation

Working knowledge of WVEIS

Experience with the operation of computers and software including proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Ability, knowledge, skills, core beliefs, expertise and passion to execute the responsibilities of the position and to provide leadership that champions the mission of the Morgan County School System

EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated by the immediate supervisor and in accordance with WV State Code §18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5310, and Morgan County Board of Education Evaluation Policy.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct, supervise and coordinate areas of responsibility

Attend board meetings and prepare reports as supervisor may direct

Play a significant role in the planning, development and implementation of staff development in areas of responsibility

Provide technical assistance and direction for low-performing schools

Provide leadership in establishing new programs and improving existing programs

Work cooperatively with leaders of other departments in the coordination of programs

Compile operational statistics and gather such data as supervisor may direct

Attend state and regional meetings per job responsibilities

Visit schools/programs on a consistent basis

Prepare and submit required reports

Remain abreast of developments and innovations in areas of responsibility

Perform other responsibilities as supervisor may assign

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Diligently promote regular school attendance by implementing and executing responsibilities /duties pursuant to WV Code 18-8-4 and WV State Policy 4110

Serve as liaison for homeless children and youths

Support principals/assistant principals with the execution of the duties outlined in WV Code 18-8-5

Foster and support progress, continuous improvement and positive change

Review attendance reports and the entering of WVEIS codes for areas of responsibility from schools and provide technical assistance as needed

Monitor attendance accountability data/rates

Conduct home visits as needed to address social service, attendance, behavior and related matters

Coordinate monthly multidisciplinary team meetings involving appropriate agencies to address social service, attendance, behavior or related matters

Attend monthly school level attendance meetings

Orchestrate problem solving and acceptance of responsibility

Review records, interview as appropriate, and assist schools in placement of students entering the system from juvenile detention centers/residential settings

Serve as liaison between schools, parents, courts, community agencies and law enforcement officials

Work closely with principals/assistant principals, counselors, and others with the identification and counseling of potential dropouts

Conduct exit conferences and follow-up services for students who have dropped out

Coordinate in-county and out-of-county transfer policies/procedures

Coordinate and oversee the enrollment process for all new students into the system

Conduct conferences with students and parents seeking exemption to full day/four-year attendance requirements

Coordinate the home-schooling process

Develop and/or revise policies related to areas of responsibilities as needed

Attend board meetings and prepare reports for the Board as the Superintendent may direct

Plan, attend and preside over any other meetings as the Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent may assign

Compile operational statistics and gather such other data as the Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent may require

Coordinate the collection, maintenance and disclosure of student data pursuant to WV State Policy 4350

Provide technical assistance for central office/school administrators, teachers and counselors as needed

Visit schools and monitor programs on a consistent basis

Report regularly to Supervisor on any developments or problems within the school system requiring his/her awareness or action

Remain abreast of developments and innovations in areas of responsibility

Perform other responsibilities as the supervisor may assign
