Mechanical Design Engineer – HVAC/MEP

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with a focus on HVAC and MEP systems to join our growing engineering services team based in Cincinnati, Ohio. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design and coordination of mechanical systems for commercial, institutional, and industrial building projects. This is an exciting opportunity to work on diverse and technically challenging projects in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and develop HVAC and MEP systems for new construction and renovation projects

Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and technical reports using Revit and AutoCAD

Perform load calculations, equipment sizing, and energy code compliance evaluations

Coordinate mechanical systems with architectural, structural, and electrical disciplines

Assist in the review of shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals during construction phases

Conduct site visits for field verifications and inspections

Ensure compliance with local, state, and national codes, including ASHRAE and LEED standards

Support project managers with technical input, timelines, and documentation

Participate in internal design reviews and quality control procedures

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

3+ years of experience in HVAC/MEP design within the building systems or engineering consulting industry

Proficiency in Revit MEP, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite

Familiarity with Trane TRACE, Carrier HAP, or similar HVAC load calculation software

Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, IMC, IECC)

EIT certification required; PE license preferred or in progress

Strong communication and organizational skills

Preferred Skills:

Experience with energy modeling, sustainability practices, or LEED projects

Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
