The Associate Director of Learning Resources supports the academic success of students through strategic coordination and delivery of learning support services. This position serves as a key member of the Student Success team and collaborates with faculty, administrators, and families to ensure students with learning differences are empowered and included in the academic life of the school. The Associate Director will lead the day-to-day operations of the Academic Resource Center (ARC), supervise learning support staff, and uphold a responsive, inclusive approach to learning support aligned with the school’s mission and Portrait of a Northwest School Faculty Member.

Essential Duties

Program Leadership and Oversight

Lead the Academic Resource Center, ensuring it is a welcoming, well-resourced space staffed by Learning Coordinators and ARC faculty.

Coordinate accommodations for standardized testing, including College Board and ACT processes.

Serve as Lead Learning Coordinator – provide coordination for 2 grades and all responsibilities of a Learning Coordinator, including case management for complex profiles.

Create systems to support best practices in executive functioning, learning support, assistive technology, and trends in evaluations

Monitor and track Learning Support Plan implementation across all grades

Attend department meetings in area of subject matter expertise to support planning, Universal Design, and other relevant curricular decisions

Partner with the Director of Student Success to support professional development on effective, inclusive teaching strategies, executive function supports, and differentiation.

Track and report student academic progress for the Upper School Student Support Team

Provide consultative support to administrative leadership for programmatic decisions and exceptions

Compile and analyze data for student ARC use, learning support programming, and intervention effectiveness.

Maintain consistent standard accommodations, supports, and services to align with academic program

Meet with students to support their understanding and use of accommodations and to foster self-advocacy and independence.

Provide guidance to families throughout the accommodation process and communicate with care, clarity, and cultural responsiveness.

Support transition planning for new students, including reviewing applicant files and collaborating with Admissions on support planning.

Meet with 12th graders who would like to receive accommodation in college, research their institution’s rules, and assist the student with the process for receiving accommodation.

Collaborate with the both Upper & Middle School Learning Coordinator to ensure vertical alignment and consistency across divisions.

Engage actively with school-wide equity, inclusion, and social justice initiatives, ensuring that learning support services reflect and reinforce these values.

Partner with Divisional Leadership to support advisory programming

Participate as a contributing member of academic leadership teams and cross-departmental initiatives.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Master’s degree in special education, psychology, or related field preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting students with learning differences in a school setting.

Demonstrated knowledge of psychoeducational assessments, learning disabilities, ADHD, executive functioning, and culturally responsive teaching.

Content Area expertise in Math, Science, and/or Humanities with capacity to support students up through 12th grade

Proven ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate with faculty and staff.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting complex information to varied audiences.

Strong organizational skills, with experience developing systems for case management and support tracking.

Compensation:

The salary range is $ based on education and years of experience. This is an 1 FTE position eligible benefit.
