Pay rate 32.20 - 34.46
Will be traveling to clients locations through out the country, 90 percent of the time.
Expenses will need submitted weekly as Misc invoice for reimbursement
Preferred candidates would be from Alliant Technologies and Factory Technologies with expertise in post and parcel material handling projects.
Job Title: PLC Controls Engineer II
Role Summary:
The PLC Controls Engineer II commissions and tests automated material handling equipment with high-speed sortation, scanning and merging applications. This role is responsible for the planning, execution, and oversight of all controls project elements throughout the project lifecycle.
The engineer takes full ownership of the controls scope, managing budget, schedule, and resources, and applies a systems-level approach to understand and manage core design features, electrical architecture, and project dependencies. This includes coordinating and forecasting electrical engineering resources, both in-house and on-site, and maintaining alignment with internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the technical implementation of electrical controls systems, including PLC programming and commissioning.
• Manage project scope, quality and deliverables ensuring alignment with customer expectations.
• Collaborate and work with other Project Engineers as needed.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including QA/QC validations and test plans.
• Execute and support system testing (BUAT/UAT/FAT) and on-site commissioning.
• Provide customer training and post-installation support.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a Controls Engineering role with warehouse automation or material handling equipment.
Technical Expertise:
• PLC Programming & Electrical Design:
Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff
• Drives & Interfaces:
Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) programming and setup
Human-Machine Interface (HMI) system design (Wonderware aveva edge, scada)
Scanner and machine vision system integration (sick and cognex)
• Software & Tools:
Logix 5000, Studio 5000, RSLinx, FactoryTalk View, Aveva Edge
B&R Automation Studio, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical
SST Profibus Configuration Tool, Ignition, SOPAS, Datalogic DataMan
• Networking & Protocols:
Industrial network protocols (Ethernet and Profibus) and warehouse control system interfaces
Soft Skills:
• Strong project planning and budgeting capabilities.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
