New England Cancer Specialists (NECS) is currently seeking a Clinical Nurse Supervisor for our 3rd Floor Westbrook Clinic.. The Nurse Supervisor is responsible for assisting the COO in carrying out day-to-day aspects of running clinical operations and assisting with the clinical schedule. This position supervises all clinical staff including Reception, Nurse Navigators, Patient Care Coordinators and Medical Assistants for the clinic at Rock Row. This clinic includes The Center for Breast Health, High Risk Cancer Genetics Clinic and Survivorship clinic. This position helps the COO solve work problems to meet patient care and quality standards and to ensure the proper use of company property and safe work practices of employees. This individual is often responsible for answering technical questions. Communicates issues to the appropriate NECS Manager or Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Coaches, develops, and leads healthcare team members in the performance of patient care procedures and processes with a focus on safety and competence.

Approves time cards for direct reports.

Manages and maintains staff schedule electronically, ensuring appropriate staffing for the clinic

Interviews job applicants, makes hiring recommendations, helps to coordinate new hire orientation. Ensures all necessary training is completed.

Performs the various duties of an oncology nurse based on daily practice needs. Administers chemotherapy to patients, works as a primary nurse, or provides phone triage on a regular basis.

Assists in the development of department/division goals and works to achieve these related to Treatment Rooms and Clinic. The Nurse Supervisor acts as a role model for staff including compliance with company policies and procedures, incorporating organizational initiatives and adapting to changes in clinical care, research, and patient safety.

Ensures that resources, supplies, and materials are available.

Maintains patient care standards and assures that patient care functions, such as assessment, treatment and documentation are completed safely and effectively.

Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response within practice protocol.

Maintains open and effective communication with all physicians, employees, and vendors.

Participates in leadership and other meetings as necessary, working collaboratively with all departments.

Travel: Very Minimal. Might need to travel to other locations occasionally, for leadership meetings.

Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.

Licensed Nurse within the State of Maine required

Two years of Hematology/Chemotherapy/Oncology nursing experience preferred

Five plus years of nursing experience, required

Previous experience as a Charge Nurse preferred

ONS Chemotherapy & Bio-therapy Certification required or have the ability to get certification within one year of employment.

OCN Certification required or the ability to obtain based on ONCC guidelines.

Proven organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Must be detail-oriented, have strong follow-up skills, and be able to manage multiple priorities.

Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion while performing duties.

Ability to determine work priorities, assign work, and ensure proper completion of work assignments.
