CNC Programming Lead

A growing manufacturing company in Central New York is seeking a skilled and motivated CNC Programming Lead to join our team. This hands-on leadership role is ideal for someone ready to guide a team of CNC programmers while driving continuous improvement across machining operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in reducing waste, enhancing productivity, and ensuring high-quality output across the shop floor.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with Sales to evaluate new project opportunities and develop accurate cost estimates for quoting.

Write CNC programs and lead a team of programmers by establishing best practices, mentoring, and fostering a culture of technical excellence.

Oversee the design and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and systems.

Drive cost-reduction initiatives through improved processes and reduced scrap/rework.

Lead process improvement projects focused on increasing efficiency, safety, and quality.

Troubleshoot production issues, implement corrective actions, and monitor outcomes.

Guide the design and approval of fixtures, tooling, and equipment needed for production.

Stay current on manufacturing trends and incorporate relevant advancements.

Required Qualifications:

7+ years of manufacturing experience with 5+ years of CNC programming (Mastercam preferred).

Strong leadership abilities with experience mentoring or managing teams.

Knowledge of lean manufacturing, process optimization, and continuous improvement.

Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and advanced machining techniques.

Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Experience with quality, safety, and compliance standards in manufacturing.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred but not required.
