Position: CNC Machinist (1st & 2nd Shift)

Location: South Bend Area

Shift Premium: $45/shift for 2nd shift

Position Summary

CNC Machinists are responsible for the efficient and continuous operation of production equipment, ensuring high-quality output and maximizing profitability. This role includes machine setup, operation, part inspection, and basic troubleshooting—ideally within an ultra-precision or aerospace environment.

Key Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC machines; calibrate and clean equipment as needed.

Adjust machine settings (e.g., speed, feed rate).

Load raw materials into semi-automated machinery.

Inspect parts using precision tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers).

Test machines periodically and troubleshoot as needed.

Identify and correct output errors or equipment malfunctions.

Maintain production logs and records of defective/approved parts.

Keep work area clean and adhere to basic safety practices.

Train in CNC setup and programming as needed.

Verify that process changes meet production and quality standards.

Qualifications

Preferred Experience: Prior machine operation experience in a manufacturing environment.

Education: High school diploma, GED, or currently enrolled as a co-op student.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading blueprints, using precision gauges, and basic math.

Soft Skills: Attention to detail, analytical thinking, teamwork, strong communication.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 100 lbs regularly (250 lbs with assistance), stand/walk for extended periods, and good hand-eye coordination.

Computer Skills: Familiarity with Microsoft Office is a plus.

Work Environment

Regular exposure to a manufacturing setting.

Use of personal protective equipment required.
