Position Summary:
The Quality Assurance (QA) Coordinator at The Walker House Inc is responsible for ensuring the facilitys services meet internal quality standards and comply with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations. This role supports program integrity through regular audits, data monitoring, documentation review, and continuous quality improvement (CQI) initiatives. The QA Coordinator works collaboratively with clinical, administrative, and leadership staff to foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and trauma-informed care.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct routine audits of client records to ensure documentation meets standards set by AODE, Medicaid/Medicare, insurance providers, and accrediting bodies (e.g., CARF, Joint Commission).
Identify and report trends, gaps, and discrepancies in clinical and operational documentation, recommending corrective action as needed.
Maintain and monitor quality assurance tools, forms, and databases to track compliance across departments.
Facilitate internal reviews and assist in preparing for external audits, licensing inspections, and accreditation site visits.
Oversee the continuous quality improvement (CQI) process, including data collection, analysis, reporting, and implementation of corrective action plans.
Collaborate with department heads to ensure quality improvement goals are integrated into staff performance and program delivery.
Provide training and technical assistance to staff on documentation standards, compliance updates, and QA protocols.
Monitor incident reports, grievances, and critical events to ensure timely follow-up and resolution in accordance with policy.
Ensure compliance with confidentiality laws, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.
Maintain knowledge of state and federal regulations affecting behavioral health and substance use treatment services.
Support the development and revision of policies and procedures related to quality and compliance.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Behavioral Health, Healthcare Administration, Social Work, or related field required; Masters degree preferred.
Minimum of 23 years of experience in quality assurance, compliance, or clinical auditing in a behavioral health or substance use treatment setting.
Knowledge of Kentucky AODE standards and applicable regulatory/accreditation requirements (e.g., Medicaid, CARF, Joint Commission).
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Proficiency in using Electronic Health Records (EHR) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in a leadership or compliance role within a licensed treatment facility.
Familiarity with trauma-informed and person-centered care principles.
Certified Quality Improvement Associate (CQIA) or similar certification is a plus.
