Job Description

The Heavy Machinery Mechanic performs preventive maintenance on engines and hydraulic systems for on and off-road mobile equipment (including vehicles such as trucks and trailers) and maintains stationary equipment. Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual laborer on construction projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

Repair engine failures, mechanical and electrical system malfunctions, body repair, and replacing parts and components

Services machinery and mechanical equipment by completing repairs on engines, hydraulics systems, mobile and stationary equipment

Use computers to issue parts and update comments on work orders/task lists including diagnostic programs for engines and hydraulic systems, OEM, and brake systems

Prepares and maintains accurate records of services and repairs

Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs when needed

Maintains work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows safety regulations

Demonstrates dependability in attendance, work completions, and flexibility to meet business needs

Effectively communicates with co-workers and customers in a positive manner

Any other tasks as assigned by supervisor

Requirements

Minimum 2 years’ experience with basic knowledge of hydraulic systems, mechanical and electronic engines, mobile equipment, and vehicles

Ability to lift to 50 lbs.

Must be able to stand for significant lengths of time in an industrial environment with exposure to all elements of weather

Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment, with a strong work ethic and attention to detail to find the root cause for equipment failures

Ability to work overtime as necessary outside of normally scheduled shifts with little or no advance notification

Capable of performing a wide range of physical activities which include pulling, reaching, bending, climbing, and kneeling

Experience with hydraulics/pneumatics, wiring, and working on heavy equipment Proficient in reading and understanding technical documents, diagrams, and service manuals

Valid driver’s license

Valid Commercial Driver License is a plus

Welding, cutting, and fabrication skills

Position Type/ Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 am through 3:30 pm, minimum 40 hours per week and overt-time as required. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
