Requirements
As an AI Architect, you will be at the forefront of designing Carlyle’s next-generation AI Investment Research Platform. This role demands a strategic thinker with deep technical acumen in machine learning (ML), natural language processing (NLP), large language models (LLMs), and cloud-native architecture. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to build scalable, secure, and explainable AI systems that enhance investment research, analysis, and decision-making processes across private equity, credit, infrastructure, and real asset domains.
Key Responsibilities:
Architecture & Strategy
Lead the end-to-end architecture of Carlyle’s AI Investment Research Platform, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, data governance, and security standards.
Design modular, reusable components to support various AI-powered use cases including:
Thematic search
Smart summarization
Investment memo generation
Risk analysis
Architect cloud-native AI/ML infrastructure on AWS, leveraging services like:
SageMaker, Bedrock, Lambda, Glue, Redshift
AI & ML Solution Design
Build scalable pipelines to ingest, transform, and enrich structured and unstructured financial data (e.g., SEC filings, transcripts, deal data).
Implement LLM- and NLP-based solutions:
Document classification
Entity recognition
Semantic search
RAG (retrieval-augmented generation)
Integrate and fine-tune LLMs such as GPT, Claude, Cohere, Llama, BloombergGPT.
Collaboration & Leadership
Partner with Data Science, TechOps, Product, and Investment teams to deliver domain-aligned, explainable AI solutions.
Act as a strategic advisor to senior investment professionals and executive stakeholders.
Lead technical architecture reviews and guide buy-in for high-impact design decisions.
MLOps & Scalability
Establish frameworks for ML Ops, covering:
Model versioning
Continuous learning
Monitoring & governance
Guide containerization and orchestration using Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform for scalable multi-environment deployments.
Innovation & Ecosystem Evaluation
Stay ahead of trends by evaluating emerging AI/ML technologies and tools, such as:
Vector databases (FAISS, Pinecone, Weaviate)
Multimodal AI systems
FinLLMs and AI copilots
Identify integration opportunities with ESG, alternative datasets, and internal portfolio company data.
Qualifications:
Required:
10+ years of experience in AI/ML systems architecture or engineering.
Minimum of 3 years leading architecture for enterprise-grade platforms.
Proven domain experience in financial services, asset management, or capital markets.
Deep understanding of NLP and LLMs, including experience with:
PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn
LLM orchestration frameworks
Expertise in cloud-native architecture, preferably AWS (SageMaker, Lambda, Glue, etc.).
Proficient with data platforms: Snowflake, SQL, Databricks, Apache Spark.
Experience designing retrieval-based AI assistants or copilots.
Strong understanding of data governance, cybersecurity, and compliance within a regulated financial environment.
Preferred:
Experience at private equity firms, hedge funds, or institutional asset managers.
Familiarity with ESG data, alternative data, portfolio insights.
Hands-on with vector databases and RAG-based systems.
Comfortable presenting complex technical solutions to C-suite or investment committees.
