R&D Research Intern

Job Summary:

Pangea Laboratory is seeking highly motivated individuals to join our Research and Development team for a summer internship! The selected candidate will assist in optimizing RNA extraction from urine samples and contribute to the UCB+ benchmark project.

As a member of this team, you will utilize molecular biology and biochemical techniques to perform assays, interpret results, and make meaningful improvements to our wet lab sample preparation workflows.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assist in the design and execution of protocol optimization experiments.

Maintain detailed records of laboratory procedures and outcomes under various experimental conditions.

Analyze and interpret data to generate insights that advance project goals.

Provide recommendations to the team leader on strategies for project progression.

Stay up to date with relevant scientific literature and apply findings to ongoing projects when appropriate.

Collaborate with other R&D team members to support the advancement of complex or challenging projects.

Must be comfortable working with urine samples.

Additional Responsibilities

Work closely with internal subject matter experts, product managers, and other R&D team members.

Collaborate with Zymo affiliates to convey results and seek input to improve the final product and service.

Prepare a final presentation about the work you have done and how it contributes to the company.

Education and Work Experience:

Undergraduate working towards a BS in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or related field.

Experience performing molecular and biochemical techniques, including PCR, qPCR, RT-PCR, gel electrophoresis, cloning, nucleic acid purification etc.

A proven track record of designing, executing, analyzing, documenting, and troubleshooting laboratory experiments.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

Attention to details and accuracy.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

Compensation: $20/hour.
